    DESCRIPTION
    This work examines the Sassanian coins in the State Historical Museum of Armenia (813 coins), and also the hoard of 92 Sassanian coins discovered in Guimri (formerly Leninakan) in 1956 and now kept in the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A. S. Pushkin.  The Museum’s collection of Sassanian coins has increased owing to Archeological excavations, accidental finds, purchases by the Museum, collection of other museums, now closed, and also gifts presented to the Museum by inhabitants of Armenia and representatives of the Armenian Diaspora.  Until now there has been no catalogue of the Sassanian coins in the State Historical Museum of Armenia.  We have attempted collect together, as much data as possible about the Sassanian coins of Armenia that are known at the present time.  Besides the catalogue, this work includes two essays: one on monetary-commodity relations in Armenia in the Sassanian period, the Second – on the Mints of Armenia and neighboring Countries in the Sassanian epoch.
