    Old history of
    Malaysia
isn't very known, for absence of archaeological rests. It was divided in states separated by fluvial valleys.
The first kingdom known was Kedah, according to the Chinese and Sanskrit sources from the 8th century BCE. After, in the 13th century the Muslims arrived, being Malacca a centre of Islamic expansion. The Portuguese arrived in 1511, and the Dutch in 1641.
    During the 17th century five
    sultanates
    minted coins:
    Johor
    , Perak, Pahang, Kelantan and
    Kedah
    .
Two centuries after, the next were
Terengganu, Perlis, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.
    Between
    1527-1800
    a big variety of
    tin
    coins was minted. These
pieces, in the ruler of Kedah sultan
Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Muazzan Shah II
    , between
    1710-1773
    .
Every ring has had a value of one cent of Spanish Philippines Peso. Some of the rings were still in circulation up to the 1850's, with a equivalence of one ring for 10 pieces of the Singapore merchant token (Keping).
