Indo-Sasanian coinage
was major type of coinage of the
post-Gupta Empire
period, in the areas of
Gujarat
and
Rajasthan
in western
India and in the
Gangetic
region, from the
6th
century to the
12th
century AD. These coins were derived from the Sasanian coinage
design,
probably transmitted to the subcontinent by the
Alchon Huns
as they invaded northern India circa
500
AD.
Indo-Sasanian coinage covers a period of
several centuries
, during which it is possible to see a progressive degradation and stylization
of
the original Sasanian design. Typically,
the
bust of the king
is highly simplified and geometric, and the design of
the
fire alter
, with or
without the two attendants, appears as a geometrical motif. This coinage was current among the various polities of
Western India
succeeding the collapse of
Gupta Empire
, such as the Rashtrakuta,
Chaulukya
and Palas from circa
530
AD to
1202
AD.
In the case of Chaulukyas, these are also called "
Gadhaiya Paisa
".
Chaulukya Dynasty was a dynasty that ruled parts of what are now
Gujarat
and
Rajasthan
in north-western India, between circa 940-1244
AD.
The capital
was located at
Anahilavada (now
Patan).
At times, their rule extended to the Malwa region in now Madhaya Pradesh.
Mularaja, the founder
of the dynasty, supplanted the last ruler of Chavda dynasty around
940
AD. His successors fought several battles
with the neighbouring rulers. During the reign of Bhima I, the Ghaznavid ruler Mahmud invaded the kingdom and raided the Somnath temple
during
1024-1025
AD.

Dear Friends,
I have re-opened this eBay corner. In November 2021, due to the limit of postal transportation capacity, the Japan Post Office
had
stopped accepting
shipments of
small packages to many nations. This corner had stopped in the same month. The
Japan Post Office
has gradually resumed
accepting small packages to many
nations.
However, shipments to USA and UK and some other nations,
have
not net been accepted them,
even now
.
I have decided to re-open this corner from December 2022, and to send the coins by
EMS
to the nations, where small packages can
not be accepted,
and to pay the
excess shipping cost (about 15 USD per one EMS) by myself.
I would like to ask my friends, who live
in USA, UK and some other nations, if possible,
please
purchase one more coins. Thank you.
